Sir, The letter published in last week’s Bicester Advertiser by Dr Michael Curry, chairman of North Oxfordshire Conservative Association, posing as an ordinary member of the public, is a disgraceful personal attack on Polly Foster, the Labour candidate for Bicester West Ward.

Polly, who has spent much of her working life working and living in Bicester, currently lives in a small village about five miles away. It is a sign of desperation that the Conservatives make personal attacks on our candidates rather than attempt to defend their policies.

No-one should be surprised however that Dr Curry is not too keen to discuss the permanent traffic gridlock in Bicester, made worse by council tinkering with the roundabout leading into Field Street, the total lack of affordable housing for young families, the small 12-bed hospital for a town projected to be ultimately bigger than Banbury, or the failure to support town centre business by the introduction of free parking, as is done in many other towns.

These and the many other failures by the current administration are the reasons people should consider when voting and not whether or not one candidate may live slightly closer to the town centre than the other.
