SIR, Bicester Lions Club would like to extend its sincere thanks to all the residents of Bicester and surrounding villages for their support of our annual Christmas charity collection.

This year our Christmas float, carrying Santa, visited Langford Village, Launton, Caversfield, Ardley, Fritwell, Tescos, Pingle Drive as well as participating in the Christmas market in Sheep Street.

We collected £3,249 and also received a very generous donation from Alpha Cars.

Bicester Lions Club will use this money to help those disadvantaged within our community who need assistance.

As part of an international organisation, which has 1.35m members in 208 countries, we also contribute to international relief efforts, such as Typhoon Haiyan or Syria.

However, our primary focus is our local community. Without the generosity of local people, we wouldn’t be able to help those in need who live locally.

Many thanks to all who contributed.

Richard Slatter, president Bicester Lions Club, Kestrel Way, Bicester
