DAN Spencer missed a last-minute penalty as Bicester’s run in the Southern Counties Intermediate Cup ended in a 13-12 defeat at home to Reading Abbey in the semi-finals on Saturday.
The visitors applied the early pressure and Callum Wylie kicked a three-pointer on ten minutes.
And it was soon 10-0 to Abbey when Julian Greenway crossed and Wylie added the extras.
But Bicester dominated the rest of the half and led 12-10 at the break.
Second row Neil Lake drove over for an unconverted try, before full back George Upton crossed.
Spencer converted the second score.
Both defences were on top after the break, but Bicester succumbed to pressure three minutes from time, with Wylie slotting a three-pointer But the hosts still had a chance to clinch it, winning a last-minute penalty, but Spencer was off target from 40 metres.
