BICESTER’S Adi Burden recorded a spectacular points victory to extend his unbeaten professional fight record.

The light-heavyweight defeated tough opponent in Callum Ide in a show promoted by former world heavyweight champion David Haye, who attended the fight at London’s famous York Hall.

Burden, who entered this fight in confident mood after five straight wins as a pro, dominated his taller opponent in the first round with a crisp jab.

He finished the round by connecting with an explosive one-two-hook combination.

In the second round, Burden had Ide in trouble with a heavy left hook to the body.

The Sussex fighter recovered well but looked as if he was starting to feel the pace, before being stunned by another right hand from the Bicester man.

Another Burden punch shook Ide to his boots towards the end of the round.

At the start of the third, Burden was instructed by his corner team to switch the attack from head to body.

Ide was not going down without a fight and looked to swap punches with Burden to the delight of the excited crowd.

In an eventful final round, Burden landed a big right hand on Ide’s chin, before the fight finished in a flurry of punches.

After winning the verdict by 40 points to 37, Burden said: “It was a great opportunity for me to box on such a big promotion.

“I believe I have done myself and my supporters proud.”

Burden’s trainer Daza Usher said: “Adi boxed well. After a short rest we’ll be back in the gym to build on this performance.”
