LOTTIE Wynne-Jones was in fine form as she clinched gold at the British Modern Biathlon Championships in Solihull.

Wynne-Jones, from Finmere, near Bicester, clinched the Under 13 national title at the Tudor Grange Leisure Complex by 70 points.

And it was a family affair as younger brother Harry finished 21st in the Under 11 boys category.

Lottie, who swims for Bicester Blue Fins, competed for the Royal Latin School in Buckingham.

She beat her personal best by ten seconds in wet and windy conditions to win her heat in the 1,600m run, finishing eighth overall in 5mins 48secs.

Lottie then won the swimming event in 1.01, beating the next fastest competitor by over three seconds to secure the gold medal.

She said: “I’m so pleased to have won.

“I knew I had to PB in the run to be in contention so I went out hard in the wind and managed to keep going until the end.

“I was exhausted and didn’t have much time to recover before my swim, so it was good to be within half a second of my PB in that and to score enough points to win the title.”

Brother Harry, from Langford Village School in Bicester, came eighth in the 50m swim event, before securing a personal best of 2mins 56secs as he won his heat in the 800m run.
