BICESTER Ladies lost 2-1 at home to Bracknell in Trysports Three Counties League Premier 1 on Saturday.

Hannah Newell gave Bicester hope of a first victory in six games by netting the opener.

But it was cancelled out by a dubiously awarded penalty flick just before half time.

Bracknell then sealed victory with a 65th minute effort.

Lilla Venning scored twice and Faye Walters also netted as Bicester Ladies 2nd beat Buckingham 3rd 3-1.

Meanwhile, Trevor Joseph and CJ Birtles fired Bicester men’s 2nd to a much-needed 2-1 victory at home to bottom side Sonning 4th as they moved out of the MBBO Division 4 relegation zone.

After dominating the early exchanges, Bicester broke the deadlock ten minutes before the break when Temple intercepted a pass and fed Trevor Joseph, who rifled an unstoppable effort into the bottom corner.

The hosts doubled their lead in the second half when Joseph earned a penalty corner and Birtles calmly dispatched into the bottom corner.

Sonning replied with six minutes remaining, but Bicester held on for their second win of the season.

Chris Birch scored twice as Bicester 4th convincingly beat Oxford 9th 6-1 in MBBO Division 9 West.

After a bright start, Birch opened the scoring with his first touch, connecting with Mark Stuart Thompson’s cross.

Within minutes it was 2-0 as Cameron Fox’s initial shot was scuffed by the goalkeeper into Birch’s path for a simple reverse-stick tap-in from a metre out.

Bicester continued to press and Pete English converted a penalty corner, before Riley Chester made it 4-0 after latching onto a pass back.

Oxford grabbed a goal back, and it took the hosts until the final minutes to add to their tally when Harry Waites tapped home and Jonny Winspear finished the rout.
