Bicester-based Major Motorsport’s junior driver Tom Williams, 16, finished fourth in the Keith Frecker Memorial Stages at Weeton Barracks in Lancashire.

This was the first time the venue had been included in the Junior Formula 1000 Championship, which meant all junior drivers started the event on a level playing field.

“Another thrilling weekend up north doing my fourth rally and taking fourth place, which I am ecstatic with,” said Williams, who hails from Henley.

“From the start I had some close moments with gravel and kerbs, but lots of advice from Simon (Mauger) benefited me hugely.

“Then throughout the day I started to progress and move up the ranks and started to have a bit of a battle for third.

“This has been my favourite rally of the season so far as it had some fast turns, jumps and windy lanes.”

The Junior F1000 Championship resumes in Caerwent later this month.
