Bicester Blue Fins have returned from the Spanish island of Fuerteventura after an intensive week of training, instruction and education.
Supported by Bicester Village, the swim camp took place after the club’s most successful ASA Oxfordshire & North Buckinghamshire County Championships and invoved 18 swimmers.
It was aimed at performance swimmers and four hours of challenging sets in the outdoor 50m Olympic-sized pool, relaxation sessions and classroom instruction on the importance of goal-setting and mental toughness.
It was also timed to assist those still chasing ASA South East Regional qualifying times, as well as the elite athletes with the potential for selection for English nationals, the British championships and trials for the European Youth Olympic Festival and European Championships later this season.
Bicester Blue Fins Head Coach Struan McNeil said it had been a valuable exercise.
“The swim camp was part of this plan and should help maintain our momentum after a record-breaking year,” said McNeil. “Our club is marching forward on all fronts, propelled by the excellent efforts of our increasingly talented swimmers.”
