Bicester's promotion hopes are hanging in the balance after they lost 3-1 at home to British Airways in Middlesex Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1 on Saturday.

The result means they are no longer in control of their own destiny and now must rely on other results going their way, to get promoted.

British Airways took the lead following a well-worked move.

However, Bicester regained their composure and started to get back into the contest.

And their pressure paid off when Luke Smith equalised following a short corner.

However, British Airways restored their lead 30 seconds into the second half.

As Bicester chased the game, the visitors sealed victory with their third goal.

Bicester 2nd's Division 5 promotion bid suffered a dent in a 3-2 defeat at Wooton Wanderers.

They now need to win their final two games and hope closest rivals Reading University Knights slip up to take the runners-up slot.

Bicester, who lost striker Pete Oram to a crushed hand five minutes in, went behind mid-way through the first half.

But ten minutes before the break Bicester levelled when Gordon Brass crossed for Jimmy Howson to force home off a defender’s foot.

Although Wooton regained the lead after the break, Bicester equalised through Howson after James Pilgrim's shot was parried.

Bicester pushed for a winner, but Wooton took victory late on.

Meanwhile, Bicester Ladies 2nd pulled further away from relegation danger in Trysports Three Counties League Division 2 with a 3-0 win at home against Wychwood.

Bicester went ahead when Jan Southam fired in following a short corner routine before Charlie Humphries doubled the lead after good work from Jan Southam and Amy Evans.

Humphries sealed the win with her second of the game, slotting the ball between keeper and post.

Bicester 3rd beat Slough 3rd 3-0 in Division 6 , with goals from Libby Pitt (2) and Suzy Elliott.
