Bicester Men threw away a two goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to West Hampstead 3rd on Saturday, but they remain in second in Middlesex Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1.

The hosts took the lead through Dave Sutcliffe when he pounced on a defensive mistake to slot past the keeper.

Bicester doubled the lead early in the second half as Adam Buxey tapped in from a short corner following CJ Birtles’s blocked shot.

The hosts relaxed and were punished when West Hampstead scored a brilliantly struck short corner.

And it got worse for Bicester when the visitors equaliser from another penalty corner to grab a point.

Ben Kirk bagged a brace as Bicester 2nd forced their way back into the Division 5 promotion frame with a 4-0 win at Amersham & Chalfont 3rd.

Will Hartley put them ahead on two minutes from Pete Oram’s super layoff.

On 12 minutes, Bicester went 2-0 up when Trevor Joseph latched onto a loose clearance before firing in.

Kirk grabbed his first goal on 20 minutes with an unstoppable reverse stick finish after being sent clear by Andy Kay.

Eight minutes later, Kirk completed his double to seal victory.

Bicester Ladies twice led Oxford 2nd through Sheryl Philpotts and Paula Burgess, but ended up losing 3-2 in Trysports Premier Division 1.

Philpotts put Bicester ahead after good work from Ella Weston, but Oxford equalised before half-time.

Although Bicester regained the lead early in the second half through Philpotts’s second, but again Oxford pulled a goal back.

A draw looked likely, but Oxford scored the winner from a short corner three minutes from time.
