BICESTER Town claimed local bragging rights with a convincing 4-1 victory over Ardley United in their Uhlsport Hellenic League Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup clash on Tuesday.

Two goals each from Stephen Gardner and Elliott Powell made it a great night for Bicester, who share Ardley’s Playing Fields ground.

They took the lead through Gardner after 14 minutes, and doubled their advantage in the 26th minute through Powell.

Bicester stayed on the front foot after the break,with Gardner adding his second goal in the 67th minute.

Powell made it 4-0 three minutes from time, before Ardley scored a late consolation goal.

On Saturday Ardley progressed to the second round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup with a 1-0 win away to Horspath.

The only goal came in the 90th minute from Drew Boyd.

Meanwhile Bicester were held to a goalless draw by visitors Didcot Town Reserves in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East.

This Saturday, Ardley will entertain Shortwood in Division 1 West, while Bicester are without a game.

l BISHOPS Itchington came from 2-0 down to beat hosts KEA 5-3 in the Banbury District & Lord Jersey FA.

Liam Godin and Ricki Bridges put KEA ahead in the Premier Division top-of the table clash.

But the visitors scored five times in the second half through Joel Bennett, Stuart Cooper, Eddie Kostiuk’s penalty, Jordan Cox and Johnny Adair. Bridges added KEA’s third.
