ADE Talabi and Elias Katasoloudi scored doubles to help Ardley United come from three goals down to win 6-4 against visitors Bracknell Town.

The victory, which featured a breathtaking strike from Katasoloudi, ended a run of five straight Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier League defeats, lifting Paul Davis’s side to 16th in the table.

The prospect of three points at the Playing Fields looked remote in the first half, as Ardley’s recent habit of giving themselves a mountain to climb resurfaced.

In wet conditions, Bracknell capitalised on some poor defending to race into a 3-0 lead before the 40-minute mark.

Adam Cornell opened the scoring with a shot on the turn after Ardley’s defence thought a cross from Johnnie Dyer was going out of play.

Danny Oliphant doubled the lead before the half-hour, lashing home from 20 yards after the hosts failed to clear their lines.

It was 3-0 in the 37th minute, when Cornell scored his second of the afternoon.

Ardley looked down and out, but gave themselves a lifeline just before the break.

Talabi closed in on goal from the right flank and beat goalkeeper Garry Aulsberry at his near post.

Davis substituted two of his back four at the break – and one of the replacements made a quick impact in reducing the arrears further.

Within five minutes of the restart a corner was only cleared as far as substitue Lewis Strafford, who scored from 20 yards.

Attacking down the slope, Ardley were now asking all the questions and their speedy front runners were proving to be a handful for the visitors defence.

The equaliser came in spectacular fashion.

Talabi’s cross from the left found Katasoloudi to score with a hooked overhead kick.

Bracknell were now on the ropes and Ardley went ahead for the first time minutes later.

Reece Bayliss was fouled in the penalty area, allowing Katasoloudi to double his tally from the spot.

Talabi struck again with ten minutes remaining to put Ardley 5-3 up and appear to make the points safe.

Bracknell’s resistance appeared to be broken, but they set up a grandstand finish when Dyer pulled a goal back five minutes from time.

There was room for a tenth goal, but thankfully for the hosts it came via Bayliss, whose blistering pace allowed him to run clear and make sure of the victory.

Ardley are at home again this Saturday, when they host Kidlington Old Boys, of the Oxfordshire Senior League, in an Oxfordshire Senior Cup second-round tie.
