Oakley United moved up to second place in the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division with a 4-0 home win against Freeland on Saturday.

It saw the hosts complete a double.

Kieron Schmidt, who ran the show from midfield for Oakley, fired the home side ahead on ten minutes.

Shayne Almond doubled their lead shortly afterwards.

Oakley kept up the pressure in the second half, with James Keeble adding a third before Ryan Binnee sealed the rout after a run and cross from Paul Brown.

Matty Whitehead hit a second-half winner as basement boys Bletchingdon recorded their first victory in 11 attempts with a 1-0 home success against Marston Saints.

With ten minutes left and the match goalless, a draw looked likely, only for Whitehead to fire in after charging 50 yards upfield to meet Ashley Johnson’s superb cross.

Bletchingdon held on for their first points of the campaign.

Launton Sports lost 5-0 at home to Chalgrove.

Rob Cantwell and Royston Oxendale put the away side 2-0 up at the break, with second-half goals from James Quainton, Paul Coles and Ciaren Vinton.

Charlton United came from behind to defeat Northway 4-1 at home in Division 1.

Callum Hicks put the visitors ahead, only for Charlton to storm into a 2-1 lead, with goals from Matty Hillsdon and Ant Davidson.

Charlton sealed it in the second half, with strikes from Adam Blaylock and Mark McGroggen.

Martin Coates’s goal was in vain as Charlton United Res lost 2-1 at Garsington Res in Division 2.

Garsington started the stronger and took the lead on 20 minutes when Connor Foley slotted home.

Two minutes after the break the lead doubled when Ben Weitzel poked home Neil Smith’s cross.

Coates pulled a goal back in the dying minutes, but it was too late.
