CRICKET: Haynes is the hero for Nondies

Andy Haynes rolled back the years to take 4-12 and help bowl Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts 2nd to an eight-wicket success at home to Didcot 2nd in Division 6 of the Cherwell League.

He was supported by Kamran Ahmed, who claimed 3-23, as Didcot succumbed for 81.

Nondies required 23.3 overs to reach 83-2.

Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts 2nd 25pts, Didcot 2nd 2 There was no play in the match between Bletchley Town 2nd and Twyford 2nd.

Bletchley Town 2nd 6, Twyford 2nd 6 Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts started their Division 1 campaign with a 38-run defeat at Leighton Buzzard.

It was looking hopeful for Nondies as they restricted Leighton Buzzard Town to 158-8.

However, they then undid their good work by slumping to 120 all out.

Mark Strong took 4-49 and Ross Brown 3-26 for Nondies, while all-rounder Dan Scott struck 59 invaluable runs for the home side.

Strong (31) then top-scored for the visitors, but Leighton's long-serving left-arm spinner Lee Selfe bagged 4-29 and Alan Priestley 3-28 to help Town claim maximum points.

Leighton Buzzard Town 25, Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts 4 No play was possible in the match between Twyford and Tiddington in Division 2. Each side received six points.

Twyford 6, Tiddington 6 Bicester & North Oxford failed to cope with the menace of James Coleman as they lost by 44 runs at Cropredy in one of only two games in Division 3 to be played after the recent wet weather.

The hosts had struggled to get going themselves, being dismissed for a meagre 144.

Luke Cherry and Ed Som-erton both scored 41, while Richard Simpson (5-45) star-red for Bicester.

However, Coleman took 5-41 as Bicester crumbled to 100 all out.
