COLIN Wainwright made the most of the favoured area to win the second round of the Angling Trust Oxford Winter League, fished by four teams on the Thames at Medley.

The Sensas A4 matchman caught bream and skimmers on the feeder with worm for a winning weight of 25lb 9oz.

Second-placed Geoff Lewington (Drennan Banbury Gunsmiths), drawn in the poplars, had a simlar bag for 23.10.0, while clubmate Paul Glenfield was third with 17.1.0 of three bream and roach.

Fox Match Isis were the top team of the day with 23 points, followed by Sensa A4 (20) and Drennan Gunsmiths (19).

These three teams share the lead on four league points after two rounds.

There was a close finish to Marston AC’s FTB Dr Parks Trophy on a pacy and coloured Cherwell, with less than two ounces separating the top two.

Steve Tomkins just nicked it with 5.3.8 of roach and perch caught on the pole and maggot over groundbait.

Graham Bradshaw was second with 5.2.0 of pole-caught roach and perch, while Anthony Tomkins (2.8.0) was third.

Stephen Malone won Tackley Sports AC’s match on Sable Lake, Kirtlington, where ten fished.

Malone weighed in with 37.8.0 of carp on feeder, bread and maggot.

Frank Malone was second with a similar bag for 23.10.0, while John Spencer was third with 20.8.0.

The Pairs Cup was kept in the family by siblings Stephen Malone and Bernadette Malone.

Peter Clarke was a clear winner of Littlemore AS’s Vice-President’s Cup on the out-of-sorts Thames at Folly, where 15 fished.

Clarke fished caster on the waggler and found bream, perch and roach over groundbait for a winning weight of 10.11.0 for 25 points.

Dave Allsworth claimed second spot with 3.14.0, while Dave Allsworth was third with 3.3.0.
