THE name McEachran is synonymous with talented footballers in Oxfordshire.

And tomorrow Zac gets his opportunity to put his name in the minds of commentators and scouts when he takes to the field for Oxford City at Colchester United.

While older brother Josh plays for Sky Bet Championship outfit Brentford, Zac, 22, will be looking to put his own name up in lights in City’s first round tie.

Zac, from Woodstock, says he is excited about the challenge of pitting his wits against a League club, and just hopes he can hold his own and maybe get spotted as a midfielder with great potential.

“It’s the first time I’ve played in the FA Cup first round,” McEachran said.

“You never know who is watching, and hopefully I can give a performance that helps us into the next round.”

“It’s always good for non-league teams to go to bigger clubs and maybe make a name for themselves. On our day, we know we can play good football. They will have a nice pitch and a decent stadium, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

McEachran has two other footballing brothers, his younger sibling George has just returned from India and is revelling in the glory of being an Under 17 World Cup winner, while Will, 20, is also on the books at Oxford City, in the Nomads set-up.

Zac says George has been pretty down to earth about his success last weekend.

“We were planning to have a little celebration this week,” he said.

“But George has gone back to Chelsea, so we haven’t really spoken much about it yet.

“I had a little look at his medal, but he’s been pretty laid back about it.

“He did bring me a pair of boots back though, so I’ll be wearing those tomorrow!”

McEachran knows the enormity of the task facing City, but believes they are capable of springing an upset.

“There will be a much bigger crowd than we are used to, which will obviously make us a bit nervous,” he said.

“But they are full-time and we are the underdogs, so we’ll just give it our best shot.”

“Playing against a League Two side will be a big test, so if I can match it with a league side, well, you never know who will be watching and hopefully I can show people what I can do.”
