DAVE Kuester had to settle for a single bronze medal after suffering an injury while competing in the British Masters 46th Track & Field Individual Championships at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham.
The veteran Bicester AC and Oxford City throws expert injured his lower back while competing in the men’s over 70 age group javelin and it got progessively worse despite overnight treatment.
His only medal came in the weight, where he achieved a bronze with a throw of 11.36 metres.
Kuester’s placings – hammer (4kg): 5 30.04m, shot put (4kg): 5 8.67m, discus (1kg): 4 24.96m, javelin (500g): 5 22.89m, weight (7.26kg): 3 11.36m.
l JAMIE Bagnall was Alchester’s top performer at the Wychwood Brewery Cotswold Classic.
He finished 11th in a time of 1hr 2mins 29secs.
Clubmates Andrew Stickley and Gary Warland came inside the top 50, finishing 35th and 41st respectively.
