OSCAR Honour enjoyed a successful afternoon in the throwing events as Bicester finished fourth in their second UK Youth Development League match of the season.

Under 15 athlete Honour threw a personal best of 27.19m to win the javelin at Tipton, West Midlands.

He followed that with another best of 9.11m to come second in the shot, before finishing runner-up in the discus.

Jamil Welham finished an impressive three seconds clear of the field in the under 15 300m.

He also took third in his first high jump competition.

It was also a good day for Freddie Taylor, who ran his best 1,500m to take second in the under 13 boys’ race.

He then went one better in the long jump, winning with a personal best of 4.14.

Taylor, along with clubmate Edward Joliffe, who won the B string event (4.00), produced the two longest jumps.

But not to be outdone, fellow under 13 Thomas Whitley also achieved a brace of personal bests, finishing second in the 800m in 2mins 42.6secs and javelin with a throw of 16.81.

Sean Lock achieved three personal bests in winning the B string 1,500m (5.20.8), high jump (1.05) and finishing fifth in the shot (3.96).

Michael Cadle was also in personal best form as he took second in the B string 800m with 2.47.8.

Lauren Garside enjoyed a good afternoon in the under 15 competition, winning the shot and coming second in the long jump.

She was also part of the winning 4x100m relay, which also included Molly Acton, Tia Brown and Charlotte Hewett.

Amy Gould ran a season’s best of 5.25.1 to take third in the 1,500 metres and racked up some very good points in unfamiliar events, such as the 75m hurdles and 300m.

Molly Acton ran a season’s best of 2.35.3 in finishing fourth in the 800m.

She also came second in the B shot and fifth in the 300m.

Paige Scarlett produced a lifetime best in the high jump, taking third with a 1.33m clearance.

In the under 13 girls’ event, Amelia Cox recorded an impressive personal best and national grade 3 effort of 19.30 to clinch the javelin.

Cox also finished a creditable fourth in the 1,200m.

Amber Parker took second in the shot and she was also third in the B string javelin.

BICESTER veteran David Kuester will undergo keyhole surgery on his troublesome shoulder despite enjoying a fruitful day in Derby.

Kuester won the 70+ age group at the Midlands (British) Masters Throwers Group (MMTG), Weight (Throws) Pentathlon competition at the Moorways Stadium, with a total of 2,869 points.

He was also awarded the MMTG gold medal and the British Throws M70 Shield.

Kuester will now have surgery on his shoulder tomorrow and is hopeful of returning to action in time for the World Masters Championships, in Perth, Australia, in October.

GARY Warland was Alchester's best performer at the Wallingford Thames Run 10k, finishing 26th in a time of 40mins 57secs.
