There was a clean sweep for Drennan Oxford in the practice match for the next round of the Oxford Winter League which was fished by 24 anglers on a very cold Kennet and Avon Canal at Avington.
Tony Hobbs, drawing the top end peg below the lock, had skimmers and perch for a winning weight of 13lb 11oz 0drms.
Clubmate Ian Young was second with 8.8.0 by a whisker from Drennan’s Mick Denton on 8.6.0.
Dave Scott-Picton won Kidlington AS’s Henry Clarke Cup on a clear Oxford Canal at Grovelands.
Fifteen anglers from Kidlington and North Oxford society’s took part, and Scott-Picton triumphed with 3.2.0. which included two pounds perch.
Terry Lester was second with 2.8.0, while North Oxford’s Steve Wildman came third with 2.0.0.
