Alchester's Jenny McBain braved the wet and windy conditions to win the ladies competition at the 33rd White Horse Half Marathon in Grove.
Ten years ago, the vet 35 won the crown under her maiden name Pyper and on Sunday she did it again, crossing the line in 1hr 23mins 41secs ahead of Headington Roadrunners’ Diane Moore (1.25.21) who was second.
Meanwhile, Bicester AC’s Connor Wilce set a new personal mark as he won the Under 17 men’s triple jump title at the Radley AC open meeting.
He leapt 12.36m in the traditional curtain-raiser for Oxfordshire’s track and field season. Wilce’s teammate Jess Cherry was the other Bicester winner as she took the Under 20 women’s shot put crown, with an effort of 9.53m.
Jake Cherry finished second in the Under-17 men’s javelin (19.25m).
Third places went to William Sims in the Under 15 100m in 14.28secs, Jamil Welham in the Under 15 200m in 28.52 and Emily Benfield in the Under 20 girl’s 100m in 14.08.
