ANDY Triggs Hodge believes there is still more to come from the men’s four crew after their gold medal at this weekend’s second World Cup meeting in Aiguebelette, France.

The Oxford man stroked his Great Britain boat of Henley’s Alex Gregory, Mohamed Sbihi and George Nash – with whom he won gold at the recent European Championships – to a convincing five-second victory over Australia “Belgrade (the European Championships) were solid and strong, but scrappy,” Triggs Hodge said.

“We have stepped on since then and we have more confidence in our plan. Every race we are getting closer to what we are capable of.”

He added: “I am looking forward to Lucerne and then our summer training camps before the Worlds.”

The men’s quadruple scull, of Graeme Thomas and Sam Townsend plus Leander’s Charles Cousins and Peter Lambert were another victorious British crew.

Wallingford’s 2013 world under 23 champion Eleanor Piggott teamed up with Charlotte Taylor to take silver in the second lightweight women’s double scull, clinching a Great Britain one-two with Kat Copeland and Imogen Walsh winning gold.

Britain’s other gold came from Heather Stanning and Helen Glover in the women’s pairs.

Another Leander member, Alan Sinclair, helped the men’s eight, which also featured double Olympic champion and Oxford Blue Pete Reed, to a silver medal.

Matt Gotrel, from Leander, and Paul Bennett came second in the men’s pair.

Leander’s Polly Swann and ex-Headington School pupil Katie Greves were in the women’s eight, who took bronze.

Brothers and Oxford Brookes University alumni Peter and Richard Chambers, as well as Leander’s Chris Bartley and Mark Aldred also won bronze in the lightweight men’s four.
