RUGBY UNION: Tideswell thrilled with both win - and try - for London Welsh
James Tideswell said there was a real sense of satisfaction among London Welsh’s players after they hammered Rotherham.
The prop, who scored the Exiles’ third try with an excellent dummy, said: “After last week against Plymouth, the boys were obviously a bit down.
“But we had a good three days’ training after that and it showed on the pitch today.
“Today we played the way we want to play with off-loads and getting over the gain line all the time. We scored tries from all over the park.”
As for his own try, Tideswell said: “It happens in training quite a lot, but on the pitch normally you have other jobs to do.
“I went to show it and the two defenders just drifted straight across. They obviously thought a prop is just going to pass it and not going to run anywhere.
“I just saw a massive hole and thought I am just going to run.
“I thought I would slide a bit earlier because when we played Gloucester last year, I got tackled by Freddie Burns and off-loaded it to Phil MacKenzie.
“I had to score this time because the other prop Nathan Trevett had scored earlier!”
Rotherham head coach Lee Blackett said: “We are bitterly disappointed.
“It was a bad day at the office. I thought London Welsh were outstanding.
“If we are honest with ourselves, we lost the physical battle today. It looked men against boys at times.
“It is a big, big reality check for us. We have been batting above our average all year.”
