Banbury United let slip the lead as they went down to defeat in the Calor League Premier Division on Saturday.

Leading through Marvin Martin’s first-half strike, the hosts levelled before scoring twice in the last nine minutes to complete Banbury’s misery.

The visitors started well and almost went ahead when Luke Cray’s wind-affected cross was tipped away by keeper Nathan Abbey as it headed for the far corner of the net.

Banbury took the lead when Martin fired in from a narrow angle after Kyal McNulty’s free-kick was blocked.

Banbury should have doubled their lead, but Dominic Lawless screwed his effort wide from 12 yards.

And Edwin Stein’s side were rueing that miss when Lorenzo Ferrari beat Kwame Fordah with a sizzling shot.

With nine minutes left, the clash looked destined for a draw.

However, former Puritan Lewis Hilliard gave St Neots the lead with a shot into the top corner.

And it got worse for the visitors when the hosts grabbed their third goal through a long range Jake Woodley strike to complete Banbury’s miserable day.
