Teenage Bicester welterweight Jack Wheeler was celebrating after beating Birmingham’s Nasar Kurdish on points at the Fighting Fit Gym’s show in Banbury.
There was also success for Bicester middleweight Sammy Ait-Tales, 23, who saw off Kurdish’s clubmate Danny Gibb, on points.
Wheeler felt he had something to prove following a close points defeat in his previous contest.
Wheeler threw a four punch combination to the body which forced Kurdish to take a step back in an evenly-fought first round.
He then stepped on the gas as he took control in the second round.
Wheeler was putting some tidy combinations together while always keeping his chin tucked tightly to his chest.
He landed a left hook to the body which had Kurdish wincing with pain.
Wheeler piled up the points in the final round with a five-punch combination to both body and head in the last ten seconds of the round to wrap up a 30-27 points win.
Ait-Tales, 23, was in similarly good form against Gibb.
Although Ait-Tales was giving away both weight and experience to his rival, he still had too much for his rival.
The first round was fairly even until Ait-Tales landed a straight left punch that knocked Gibb on to the ropes.
In round two, Ait-Tales was landing with more regularity and pushing his opponent onto the back foot. Another straight left, followed by a looping right hand had Gibb in all sorts of trouble.
Ait-Tales landed clusters of punches to both body and head and a fierce left hook had his opponent visiting the canvas in the final round.
Gibb managed to hold on to the final bell, but Ait-Tales took a unanimous 30-27 win.
Bicester’s head coach Daza Usher said: “Sammy and Jack have shown real dedication in the gym, not only in the lead up to the show, but since joining two years ago.
“The discipline and dedication the two lads have shown has been tremendous and now they are reaping the rewards.”
