SMILES blossomed through a Bicester care home this Mother's Day as one young visitor spread a little joy in the form of flowers.

Bouquets, bunches and potted plants were among the donated gifts five-year-old Ethan Baynes delivered to residents at Langford View Care Home.

The youngster took on the role as delivery boy and spent his Sunday afternoon putting smiles on many mother's faces.

His own mum, Nicki Baynes, who works for Paterson Healthcare and nominated the care home for the donation, said: "He was quite nervous going round, despite being a confident little boy in his own world.

"Every single one of the 'nans' as he called them, asked for a kiss as he handed out the flowers and he would say 'just a cuddle'."

Mrs Baynes nominated the care home for the delivery of donated flowers, which were given by delivery firm Yodel in Reading where her husband Darren Baynes works.

The family, who live in Bicester, joined Ethan in handing out the flowers and Mrs Baynes said: "It great experience for Ethan, who has all his grandparents and even great-grandparents.

"So it was something very different for him to see not everyone is as lucky.

"Everyone said how lovely it was and, for example, one lady said her family were abroad so would have had nobody come to visit for Mother's Day.

"It made her very happy to have a visit."

A picture of the youngster delivering flowers has since been posted to Facebook and received more than 150 likes and comments calling Ethan and 'inspiration to all'.

Langford View Care home manager Fareda Ait-Tales said: "It meant so much to receive the flowers, we really appreciate it.

"We do get flower donations occasionally from local shops and residents enjoy them so much.

"We put them in their rooms, the lounges and also use them for flower arranging.

"With some of our most poorly residents they are unable to come out of their rooms so its great to be able to take flowers in to their rooms.

"We are a non-profitable care home so it was lovely to have Ethan give out the flowers, it was unbelievable.

"He brought a smile to everyone's face."
