Oxfordshire Waste Partnership put on a recycled fashion show yesterday to showcase an alternative use for unwanted clothes.
According to the partnership, Oxfordshire councils spend more than £660,000 sending 8,000 tonnes of clothes, shoes and fabrics to landfill every year.
So at Oxford Town Hall, models donned recycled fashion on the catwalk, with rips repaired and whole new garments made out of old ones.
Visitors also saw practical demonstrations teaching embroidery, crotchet and making rugs from rags.
The event brought together businesses, charities, students, volunteers and community groups to highlight the problems of disposable fashion.
People could also swap clothes and adapt their old wardrobe for a fresh new look.
