An over 50's football club with more than 90 registered players has successfully launched a women's team.

Bicester Fossils, an over 50’s walking football team who train and play at Whitelands Farm Sports Ground, in Bicester, held their first over 40’s women’s session last Friday.

The free session was well-attended, and the players enjoyed coffee and tea in the on-site cafe afterwards.

Chairman of the Bicester Fossils Steve Payne said: “We had a great session. 14 ladies attended, and there were lots of smiley faces.

“Friendships are already being formed and that’s what it’s all about.

“If any other ladies wish to join us next week, sessions will continue to take place from 6.30pm to 7.30pm at Whitelands Sports Ground.

“The first game is free, and £4 per session thereafter.”
