Sir – Why do the majority of the so-called singers/vocalists of today shout, squeal and blast out at their loudest? One cannot understand what they are singing about!

What happened to the diction? Or do they sing in a foreign language?

Where are the soft, gentle voices of yesterday – Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davies, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day etc. How music has deteriorated!

I was formerly a vocalist with the Rhythmics at Holyoake Hall, Headington, for four years. What great nights they were.
