Sir – I read Alex Regan’s article about the water bills in Langford and areas of Launton (Report, June 18). We live in Fringford and have had almost exactly the same experience.

Our meter readings suggested that our water consumption had risen from 38 cubic metres for six months to 86 cubic metres for the recent comparable period.

An engineer has now visited and resolved the matter so we are now paying the right amount. However, there has been no explanation of how the meter readings produced such extraordinary results.
