TWO brothers learnt a little bit more about the Great War by helping out during a ceremony in South Hinksey.

Jacob, 11, and Louis Barron, seven, of Manor Road, laid wreaths on the graves of First World War soldiers from the village in a ceremony at St Laurence Church, South Hinksey.

The service, on Monday evening, led by the Rev James Wilkinson, included a procession around the churchyard and readings of poetry and prose.

The brothers’ mum, Phyllis Barron, said: “We wanted the boys to be aware of the First World War and war in general. There is war going on now and I wanted them to know it is not a good thing. The ceremony was beautiful and meaningful.”
