BEN West was in record-breaking form, claiming a gold medal in the Oxfordshire Track & Field Championships, which were combined with the Buckinghamshire event at Horspath.

The Bicester AC youngster’s success came in the under 20 men’s 800 metres, where he clocked 1min 57.45secs to come second behind a Bucks athlete, but took the Oxon crown.

His time smashed Mark Curzon’s under 20 men’s club record which had stood for 20 years.

West also finished second in the 1500ms with 4.15.15.

It was also a superb weekend for Bicester’s Amber Parker, who took triple gold in the under 15 girls’ shot, discus and hammer, despite being hampered by a leg injury.

In the shot, she threw 9.28m, which broke the club record that she had set the previous weekend.

She also set a new club best in the hammer with a throw of 26.60.

Thomas Kavanagh landed the under 17 men’s long jump title.

Keiran Finch took the under 20 men’s high jump as well as finishing second in the long jump.

Samuel Rayson won the under 15 high jump and was runner-up in the 80m hurdles.

Josephine Parker was second in the under 13 Oxon 70m hurdles and third in the 200 metres

Joshua Parker won the under 13 Bucks 200m title.

Parker was second in the 100m final with 14.22 and produced at leap of 4.29m in the long jump for third.

Other top-three placings came from Tia Brown (3rd under 17 100m), Charlotte Kavanagh (2nd under 13 high jump), Django La Porte (2nd under 13 75m hurdles) and Emily Benfield (2nd senior long jump).
