AMBER Parker broke a club record as Bicester’s young athletes finished a superb second in their first Heart of England League Division 3 match at Leicester.

Parker became the first Bicester athlete in the under 15 girls shot put to throw more than nine metres.

Her winning distance of 9.06 was also a national grade 3 mark.

However, in the javelin she had to play second fiddle to clubmate Amelia Cox, who produced a magnificent personal best throw of 21.41m for third place.

Cox was also second in the 1500m (5mins 19.7secs) and third in the long jump with a personal best of 4.19.

It was a case of so near for Isla Bohannon, Hollie Offord, Freya McGinley and Jenny Critchley, who equalled the long standing club record of 59.2secs in winning the under 13 girls' 4x100m relay.

Bohannon won the individual 100m in 14.7secs and was also second in the 200m (31.1) and the shot (5.82).

Offord was runner-up in the long jump, a position matched by Imogen Cox in the

javelin.

Joshua Parker was in scintillating form in the under 13 boy’s competition, producing national graded efforts when second in the 100 metres and the long jump.

Jacob Gough was a splendid winner in the javelin with a personal best and national graded effort of 22.90m. He was also second in the shot.

There was a double first in the under 15 boys’ long jump as Edward Jolliffe took the A event in a pb of 4.90m.

Samuel Rayson, enjoying his best season, triumphed in the B event.

Jolliffe also finished second in the 300 metres with Rayson doing likewise in the 80m hurdles.

There was also a double first in the shot, with Ben Groves and Sean Lock taking the A and B events respectively.
