Banbury Cricket Club have signed top-order batter Sam Fanning.
The 25-year-old cricketer, based in Perth, has experience in both red-ball and white-ball cricket, from Australian domestic tournaments and top club competitions.
The former Australia Under-19 World Cup player currently represents Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield and in February scored 99 against a Victorian attack led by test cricketer Scott Boland.
He has also been a part of the dominant Perth Scorchers Big Bash League squad, including their title-winning campaign this year.
Banbury Cricket Club chairman Martin Phillips said: “Sam’s addition is a major boost to the club's ambitions and will be an important part of a young and exciting squad in 2026.
“We hope that acquiring this kind of talent to the club will inspire people to come to the club to see an excellent standard of cricket being played.
“I’d like to welcome Sam and all our other new signings including Oxfordshire’s Hayden Rossouw and wish them every success in the upcoming season.”
Fanning will play in the 1st XI in the Home Counties Premier League and cup competitions.
He will also be the lead coach for the club's women and girls' section.
Mr Phillips added he will join the squad in April and be available for the start of the season.
The season begins on May 9 at White Post Road against High Wycombe.
The T20 cup competitions begin on May 2 at 10am against Oxford.
He will be the lead coach for the club's women and girls' section.
