Rising rugby star Henry Pollock has received global recognition but his "colourful" personality has sometimes detracted "proper analysis" on his merits as a player, an expert has said.
The Banbury-born flanker, who plays his club rugby for Northampton Saints, regularly appeared off the bench for England during the rugby union Autumn Nations Series.
He was also nominated for the World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year award but missed out on the gong.

Pollock has also received headlines for his larger-than-life personality which pundits say makes him "the first men's rugby giant of TikTok".
Writing in his column for The Times, rugby union expert and journalist Stephen Jones said Pollock has "livened rugby up" when there has been a demand for players to show off more about their characters.
But he has questioned whether Pollock's work on the field should not be overshadowed by the emphasis on his antics on social media and in the dressing room.
Mr Jones said: "Some of us have for years been demanding that the players are allowed to show us their colourful side and their characters, so how can we complain if sometimes that goes just a little over the top?
"But what is significant is how little proper analysis there is about his merit as a potential international player. His best position is probably open-side flanker. He has a genuine turn of foot, and not simply because he tends to come on fresh when all the others are knackered."
The journalist referenced Pollock's "explosive 24-carat moment" for Northampton Saints against Leinster in last season's Champions Cup semi-finals when the Oxfordshire star scored a try after finding space down the wing.
Another moment on the international stage was when Pollock kicked a loose ball off the side of his boot, leading to a try for England winger Tom Roebuck during November's win over New Zealand.
Mr Jones stated Pollock's challenge is now to shed the tag of being a "bench man for England".
He added: "He is England’s first megastar of the TikTok era, and for that we must praise the accessibility it gives to young players. His character shines through, gives us access to something different.
"But rugby is a deadly serious business. Some are entirely confusing fame and accessibility in life and on social media with true, ironclad class as a rugby player. The two are miles apart.
"We hope that Henry can continue being accessible. But his next step is to force himself into big teams as a regular starter, and that prospect is also a distance away."
Pollock's first senior cap came from the bench in England’s final fixture of the 2025 Six Nations, where the 20-year-old scored two tries in a 14-68 victory in Cardiff, and after just 30 minutes of Test rugby to his name, he was selected as the youngest player on the 2025 British and Irish Lions tour to Australia.
