ELLIOTT Moore is confident Oxford United can change their fortunes for the better this season – but admits his teammates must do better in the final third.

United slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday night, having had 19 attempts at goal.

Just two of those were on target though, and Moore said those failings in front of goal must be rectified.

Speaking after the loss at Adams Park, Moore said: “Every game is massive now, we know that.

“These things are going to happen so we need to go again and put things right.

“We know it’s going to turn, all the lads have got confidence it’s going to turn.

“We all know we need to be more clinical and ruthless in their box.”

On the team display in Buckinghamshire, Moore said: “You come away from the game and look at our performance – you can’t really fault it.

“The only thing is the two sloppy goals, we know we need to better at that and we need to be more ruthless.

“We played well in the second half and got on the front foot, we just weren’t clinical enough.

“It’s disappointing to lose any game of football, but I don’t think this has put a negative turn on anything.”
