KARL Robinson was left disappointed with the quality his Oxford United side showed in the final third, in their 2-0 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers.

First half strikes from Sam Vokes and Anis Mehmeti ensured the home side widened the gap to six points between themselves and United in the Sky Bet League One table.

While Robinson was frustrated with what his side showed going forward, he was pleased with what he saw elsewhere on the pitch.

The U’s head coach said: “I felt our final third entry, we didn’t produce anything.

“In the second half, there was only one team in the game – I thought we dominated all areas of the football pitch.

“The back four in second half were superb and I thought the midfield dominated in possession against one of the most physical teams.

“In the final third, it was always a huff and a puff – we need more consistency in that final third, we need to score more goals.

“For me, that was a very good two-thirds performance but in the final third, we weren’t ruthless enough in what we were asking.

“The players gave everything, nobody shirked any responsibility.”
