CHINNOR have added more top-level experience to their squad with the signing of Dean Hammond.

The 29-year-old winger arrives following a spell with last season’s Greene King IPA Championship runners-up Ealing Trailfinders, having previously spent nearly seven years at Worcester Warriors.

Hammond scored 29 tries in 81 matches at Sixways, regularly coming up against the best the Gallagher Premiership had to offer.

The back’s impressive CV also includes a Junior World Championship title with South Africa in 2012, before he was part of the Western Province side to win the U21 Currie Cup a year later.

“Chinnor are a well-respected team that is determined to achieve big things in this league,” Hammond said.

“I hope to contribute in taking the club to the next level.”

Chinnor director of rugby, Richard Thorpe, added: “We are delighted to have secured Dean as we prepare for a new season in National League 1.

“Dean is a first-class player and will have a huge impact on our senior squad.

“Given so many players in National League 1 will not have played any meaningful rugby for a very long time, Dean brings a ‘battle toughness’ to the squad following his most recent game against the world-class Saracens in the Championship finals.”
