DIEDE de Groot was Jordanne Whiley’s nemesis once again at the British Open.

The Dutch player saw off the Steventon resident in the women’s wheelchair singles and doubles events, having beaten her at Wimbledon and the French Open earlier this summer.

Whiley had won her fifth title at the All England Club a fortnight ago and was looking to follow it up with more success in Nottingham.

The 29-year-old and fellow Brit Lucy Shuker were up against top seeds de Groot and countrywoman Aniek van Koot in Nottingham, but fell to a 6-2, 6-1 defeat in Saturday’s doubles final.

Whiley did not have long to wait for a chance of revenge, with the wheelchair singles final taking place 24 hours later.

But de Groot once again came out on top, winning 6-2, 6-4.
