JORDANNE Whiley reached the ladies wheelchair doubles final at Wimbledon – hours after bowing out of the singles.

The 29-year-old, who lives in Steventon, began a busy day with defeat to top seed Diede de Groot on Court 17.

Whiley was beaten 6-4, 6-1 by the Dutch player in her semi-final, meaning her wait for a singles final at the All England Club continues.

She had more joy in the doubles with Yui Kamiji, overcoming Angelica Bernal and Momoko Ohtani 6-1, 6-2.

The pair face fellow Brit Lucy Shuker and Kgothatso Montjane, from South Africa, with Whiley aiming for a fifth Wimbledon doubles crown.

Elsewhere, Oxfordshire’s Matilda Mutavdzic lost to Nastasja Schunk 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 in the third round of the girls’ singles.
