OXFORDSHIRE’S Pitching In Southern League sides will have their games shown online in a groundbreaking move.

The competition has signed a multi-year media rights deal with TicketCo media services, which will give its 82 teams the chance to control their own broadcasting.

It enables clubs to show pay-per-view matches live online and is designed to boost fan engagement, help them develop their own digital strategies and drive commercial revenue.

The county’s sides in the competition include Banbury United in Premier Central, tier seven of the football pyramid and step three of non-league.

Didcot Town, Kidlington, North Leigh, Thame United and Wantage Town play in Division 1 Central, the league below.

David Kenny, head of global partnerships at TicketCo said: “This deal makes online broadcasting available to clubs regardless of size and helps bring football back to the people.

“In the fallout of the greed of the failed Super League it is refreshing that lower league football is now creating a positive revolution of its own, focused on making the beautiful game more accessible to fans.”

Southern League chairman Terry Barratt added: “They are a global player and have the expertise that will enable our clubs to screen games to a high level.

“I am excited at the prospect of our clubs screening matches, which will enable supporters worldwide to watch at an acceptable price.”
