It’s a bit of a strange weekend for us because we’re stuck between the excitement of last Sunday against Burton and a big game at home to Blackpool on Tuesday evening, the first leg of our play-off semi final.

Usually I would go and watch a match if we aren’t playing, but who am I going to watch!

We gave the players a couple of days off after Burton, not so much as a reward for that result but because they needed it.

We’ve worked so hard, almost non-stop for two years and that takes its toll not just on the body, but also the mind.

We want everyone fresh for, hopefully, three more matches so we let the players relax a little at the start of the week and then we’ve been back for the last few days.

There has been a buzz around the place and training has had a real high intensity, so I think we’re in a good place.

I’m sure Blackpool will be thinking the same.

I’m not going to start any mind games, I have terrific respect for what our opponents have achieved this season and they are, rightly, the favourites to get through to Wembley.

But I think it will be a very close 180 minutes.

The biggest thing for me is that there will be fans at both matches.

Earlier in the season we had a couple of trial games and 2,000 people managed to make plenty of noise.

There will be 4,000 on Tuesday night and if you’re coming then play your part.

What I mean by that is sometimes people come to big games like this just to enjoy the occasion.

But your level of enjoyment will be so much higher if you join in: applaud, sing, shout, cheer for your team.

If you’re coming, then wear yellow and show your colours.

We have home advantage first, so let’s try to make it count.

I’ll be right there with you – I’m banned from the dugout so will be watching from one of the boxes and right in the middle of the fans.

I was able to get my message across to the players in an empty stadium against Burton and would love to have the problem of making myself heard because our fans are making so much noise on Tuesday night.

Whatever happens, it has been a magnificent season so let’s try to finish it in style.

I stayed late on Tuesday to join the end of season awards evening.

It was a great night and worth pointing out that the players’ player of the year, fans’ player of the year, young player of the year and women’s player of the year had one thing in common.

Sam Long, Jack Stevens, Matty Taylor and Lauren Haynes are all local, all progressed through the academy and all wear the yellow shirt with a massive sense of pride to be playing for this club.

They were all deserved winners, as was Brandon Barker with the goal of the season.

Watching the highlights video of the last eight months really brought home to me just how many great moments we’ve all shared.

Here’s hoping there are a few more still to come.
