BRANDON Barker is raring to take part in Oxford United’s Sky Bet League One play-off campaign.

The winger has featured just once since injuring his hamstring against Shrewsbury Town on April 13 and was an unused substitute for Sunday’s 4-0 win over Burton Albion.

Barker, who last night won United's goal of the season for his strike at Crewe Alexandra on April 10, expects to be available for Tuesday’s play-off semi-final first leg against Blackpool.

The Rangers loanee said: “It came a bit too soon for my knee and my hamstring.

“I wasn’t 100 per cent, but I was still ready to go if called upon and the gaffer made the decision not to risk it.

“It was a great decision, it has given me an extra week to settle and now I’ll be absolutely ready for the play-offs.”

Like all the award winners, Barker accepted the prize over Zoom at an online ceremony that included contributions from chairman Sumrith ‘Tiger’ Thanakarnjanasuth, head coach Karl Robinson and club captain John Mousinho.

Striker Matty Taylor won the Golden Boot, with his tally of 18 goals six ahead of nearest challenger Mide Shodipo.

He said: “It’s my main job and it’s nice when you finish a weekend with a win and a goal.

“Of course I’d swap it for a promotion.”
