LIANG Wenbo was unable to spring a shock as he bowed out of the World Snooker Championship at the first round.
The Chinese player, who practices at the Oracle Pool & Snooker Club in Abingdon, fell to a 10-3 defeat to World No 3 Neil Robertson.
The 34-year-old trailed 6-3 overnight at the Crucible, but was powerless to prevent his opponent, one of the tournament favourites, claiming two further centuries and a final flourish of 73 to wrap up victory.
Wenbo is currently ranked 29th in the world, but is projected to rise two places despite his defeat.
He moved to Boars Hill, near Oxford, just over a year ago and has been based at the Abingdon club ever since.
Manager John Donkin previously said: “Some days he can spend 12 hours here. He just gets into the zone.”
