DETA Hedman was unable to mount a late comeback as she fell to a first-round defeat on her PDC World Championship debut.
The Oxfordshire county player lost 3-1 to Andy Boulton at Alexandra Palace, but still made history as the first black woman to compete at the tournament.
A nervous start from the 61-year-old allowed her opponent to win the opening two sets.
Hedman fought back to halve the deficit, but Boulton quashed any hopes of a famous victory as he closed out the fourth.
