DETA Hedman will make her PDC World Championship debut tomorrow.
The Oxfordshire county player faces Andy Boulton at the iconic Alexandra Palace after beating last year’s breakout star Fallon Sherrock to qualify for the event for the first time.
Hedman has finished as runner-up in the women’s world championship on three occasions and became the first female player to record a televised victory over a male opponent at the 2005 UK Open.
If the 60-year-old beats Boulton in tomorrow’s evening session, she will face Stephen Bunting on Wednesday afternoon.
Hedman is among several female players, including Trina Gulliver, who for years played for the Shears pub in Wantage, to have competed alongside men on the PDC circuit.
