OXFORD United need a positive result at Portsmouth to finally build up some momentum in Sky Bet League One, says Jordan Obita.

United’s previous three league victories this season have all been followed by defeats and Obita believes it is vital they avoid a repeat tonight.

He said: “I always say just don’t lose – get points on the table and the atmosphere around the training ground is a positive one.

“When you win, then lose, you’ve got to go again and you can fall back down into the same trap.

“If we get a draw that’s a positive, because every away game’s tough.”

United’s first two victories of the season – at Accrington Stanley in September and MK Dons on October 20 – should have been followed by games against Crewe Alexandra and Swindon Town, but both were postponed after their opponents reported positive coronavirus tests.

U’s head coach Karl Robinson feels this has played a part in his side’s inconsistent start and is relishing a run of matches.

He said: “Every time we’ve won a game of football the next one’s been called off.

“This will be the first chance to go back to back in a consistent period.”
