DARREN Ferguson is reading nothing into Oxford United’s slow start when they visit his Peterborough United side tomorrow.

The Posh boss was among those frustrated by the midweek cancellation of the U’s rearranged game against Crewe Alexandra.

He was due to be scouting from the stands, while it denied the hosts a chance to climb up to eight places in the Sky Bet League One table.

After an indifferent beginning themselves, two wins from the last three have propelled Peterborough up to fifth.

But having watched the footage of United’s 3-1 defeat at Priestfield last weekend, Ferguson sees his opponents’ stay in the bottom four as temporary.

He told the Peterborough Telegraph: “It was a strange result given how the game went.

“Oxford created so many chances it was remarkable they only scored once.

“Sometimes losing in play-offs can affect you at the start of the following season and I have no doubt Oxford will be up there challenging for promotion at the end of the season.

“They have good technical players and strong attacking players.

“They have plenty of ability out wide so it should be a good and close game.”
