SECOND-HALF goals from Callum Crook and Adam Smith gave Oxford United's under 18s a 2-0 derby victory against Swindon Town in the League Cup.
The U's needed some smart saves from Eddie Brearey to keep the tie, played at their training ground, level at the break.
But Crook bundled in the opener shortly after half-time, before Smith's close-range finish made the game safe.
Will Owens had the game's first clear chance, powering a header goalwards which was well saved after 14 minutes.
Crook then stabbed a shot over after the Town goalkeeper had dropped a cross from Jack Gardner in the blustery wind.
But the visitors went on to have a strong spell, with Brearey making three saves - each better than the last - to keep the typically feisty clash, which saw a couple of United players booked, scoreless.
The deadlock was broken in the 49th minute, when a United corner led to a scramble in the penalty area which was settled by Crook's finish.
Conditions grew worse as the rain got stronger in the second half.
But United grabbed the crucial second goal 20 minutes from time.
Smith had seconds earlier flagged up a knock to the bench, but he got into the box to be in the right place to score after an excellent run from Owens.
Oxford Utd: Brearey, Watt, Nosakhare, Golding, Johnson, Gardner, Coe, Anifowose (Grant HT), Smith (Trialist 75), Crook, Owens.
