CAMERON Brannagan has signed a two-year contract extension at Oxford United.

The highly-rated midfielder had just 12 months left on his existing deal, but has committed to the U's until 2023 after putting pen to paper.

Brannagan, 24, joined United in January 2018 and has become increasingly influential, racking up 104 appearances.

The former Liverpool trainee's performances attracted interest from clubs in higher divisions, but he is delighted to stay at United.

He said: “I’m absolutely made up.

“It’s a big thing for me and my family, Oxford stood there and helped me out when I really needed a platform to get first team football and get my name out there.

“They were the club to step in and really push me and help me as much as they could.

“Last season we played some great stuff and it was very unfortunate not to go all the way, but that’s life and we move on.

“Signing the contract is massive, I love it here, love living here and I’m just looking forward to get going again."
