ELLIOTT Moore is expecting a different type of game when Oxford United and Portsmouth clash again this afternoon.

Just three days on from a semi-final first leg where the sides mustered just two shots on target each, they meet at the Kassam Stadium.

Following on from the 1-1 draw, the equation could not be simpler – win the game and you are off to Wembley.

Given how closely matched the teams have been this season, a penalty shoot-out cannot be ruled out.

Oxford United ready to rock ‘n’ roll in play-off second leg with Portsmouth – Karl Robinson

But United, who have won on Pompey’s last two league visits to the Kassam, would certainly have taken the scenario before kick-off on Friday.

And Moore believes there will be more opportunities for Karl Robinson’s side to go through the gears in the re-match.

He said: “I know there’s no crowd, but I think with home advantage we can show our stuff a bit more.

“We knew this was going to be tough and Monday will be even tougher because there’s a lot more on the line.

“We have to show what we’re good at.

“That result will give us a lot of confidence going into Monday.

“I feel like we’ve got a massive chance. It’s one more push and we’ll hopefully get to Wembley.

“We’ve definitely got things to improve on, but we’ve got positives to take.”

Moore was given the nod ahead of John Mousinho to partner Rob Dickie in the heart of the defence and vindicated the decision with a solid performance.

And while the hope is United’s attacking unit can assert themselves more consistently than they managed in the first game, the other end of the pitch still needs to be a focus.

Moore said: “I thought we defended well as a unit.

“We knew their game plan and I thought we dealt with it very well.

“We’ve got to take those principles into Monday and hopefully it pays off.

“It’s a hard decision for the gaffer (at centre half).

“All three of us have performed well over the season but it was great to get the nod.

“Hopefully I took my chance and can do it again on Monday.”
